چکیده
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research was to study the histology and describe microscopy findings epididymis epithelium greater Rhea americana at three time periods: November 2005 (n=14), December 2006 (n= 20), May 2007 observe compare differences that occurred. We studied from 54 rheas, bred in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. were collected during commercial slaughter fixed bouin. Optical used measure cellular structure, types cells, tubules, stereological values like diameters, lumen, thickness, relative volume tissue structure. Additionally, electron studied. In 2007, means tubular diameter were: 79.1 58.1 µm, thickness: 24.0 52.2 lumen diameter: 55.0 5.8 respectively. Regarding volumetric proportion, we reported following values: 36.2 80.4%, without spermatozoon 19.6 3.0%, with 5.4 0.0%, interstitium 35.4 12.0%, blood vessels 3.5 4.6%, structures superficies 1.4 0%, lamina 3.2%, artifacts 0.3 1.3%, ducts had a circular form transverse sections only 2006. Rhea’s morphology found be similar ostriches, roosters, Japanese quail. Here, present data (tubular diameter, diameter), proportion (epithelium, spermatozoon, interstitium, vessels, superficies; cilium, estereocilium, lamina) species repose sexual activity period (reproductive season).

Busulfan, a cytotoxic drug, which is currently used as a chemotherapeutic agent, has many side effects on different body organs. In this research, the effects of busulfan on sperm parameters and microstructure of mouse testis were investigated. Methods: Busulfan was injected intrapretoneally at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mg/kg and testes were removed after 4, 6 and 8 weeks, weighed and processed fo...

We conducted 2 consecutive experiments to verify whether adult captive Greater rheas (Rhea americana) could select diets differing in nutritional and energetic content, and to evaluate the effect of those diets on egg production and hatchability. From August to January, animals were offered four diets: processed feed for rheas (diet 1), diet 1 + soybean (diet 2), processed feed for chicken (die...
